Preface to This Edition

God's Plan of Redemption is a remarkable study of the believers' full salvation. It mainly unveils

  1. The Triune God as the uncreated, eternal life, signified by the tree of life in Genesis 2:9 and Revelation 22:2;
  2. The tripartite man created by God with a spirit, soul, and body to be a vessel of the eternal life; and
  3. God's eternal plan to dispense Himself as life into man.

This work of dispensing was fully made possible through Christ's redemption, which was carried out by His substitutionary death, attested by His glorious resurrection, and proclaimed in His victorious ascension. This dispensing is now appropriated by the believers in the way of life. It begins from man's spirit at the time of his regeneration, continues in man's soul through the life-long process of transformation, and culminates in his body at the time of his glorious transfiguration. Such a full salvation produces the many sons of God, who are conformed to the image of the firstborn Son of God through the divine life-principle. They are built up as the Body of Christ in an organic oneness and prepared as the bride of the Lamb in the divine love, unto the eternal glory of God.

Concerning the charts in this book, Witness Lee said, “To my realization, these charts are the best of their kind in all the publications of Christianity.…The charts presented here are very revealing, giving us a clear vision and impressing us with God's plan, His way in His redemption, and the way of life.” He referred to Mary McDonough's book as a “marvelous masterpiece” and said, “It is remarkable that we cannot find this book in almost any Christian bookstore in this country.” Because of this, we felt that we had to reprint this precious book to make it readily available to all the Lord's children.

This edition retains the original text of the 1920 American edition of Mrs. McDonough's book. No editorial liberties have been taken with the text, other than minimal adjustments to punctuation and typographical style. Additional titles have been added to the charts, according to the British edition of 1922.

We pray that the riches of the divine revelation presented in these pages and the experience disclosed by these truths will become the daily portion of His loving seekers, as our sister wrote, “There's a Man in the glory whose Life is for me....His Life in the Glory, my life must be.”
